So Check Me out!

Okay....so I don't do this often unless I am obsessed with a product, BUT I took it to myself to go to the
+The Honest Company facebook page and let them know how I felt about their diapers! (Which I love!) They were featured on Zulily one day for a deal that made the diapers WAY cheaper than any other brand so I figured I'd snatch up the deal and give them a whirl and I became obsessed! (Which also kind of sucks because without the Zulily deal, they aren't the cheapest diapers). They have cute designs ( No disney characters or Sesame Street which drive me crazy on anything baby), and no blow outs. Anyways....Long story short I was looking on their website tonight and came across this.....

My daughter has been blowing out of her diapers like crazy!! I decided to whip out The Honest Diapers to give them a whirl. Since they are "green" I expected them to not be a very good product and was just saving them for when I was in need of diapers but couldn't run to the store. These diapers are actually amazing and fit very well. You made a believer out of me and I will be back for more! They beat out Pampers and Huggies for me

I'm pretty much famous right?? Haha Anyways I am always wondering what products are peoples favorites because for some reason I feel the need to want to know whats the best and have it as long as I can afford it! Therefore, I have decided to occasionally blog about things I love because I wish someone would do the same for me! :) Obviously this is still going to be my personal blog and for those of you who know I post like 4 times a year so we will see how this goes!

Slacker

I thought I would be good at this once we moved, but nope! Anyways, I figured I would take a quick moment to update everyone on our lives! We are now living in Kansas City, Missouri! Dustin is super busy with school! He goes to school at 6 every morning and comes home at 6! I am so lucky that he is willing to go before class to study so when he comes home at night he can spend time with Quinn & I. He just finished his first semester and did well in all of his classes! Quinn & I pretty much just hang out every day!
I got my RN license approved and just need to take my boards now, however I don't think I am going to work anyways so my motivation to study for a test is at an all time low. We have made some great friends out here which I am grateful for because I don't know how I would make it out here otherwise! I would say the best part of Kansas City is the SHOPPING! They have every store in the world! The worst part= no mountains!

We have been lucky to be able to see a lot of family while we've been here! Dustin's family came out with us when we moved which helped so much! My parents came out in September and October. And then my sister and her husband came out in November and we went to a Chiefs vs. Broncos game! We also went home for a few weeks during Christmas break and it was sooooo good to see our family & friends! It was hard to come back to Missouri but I am sure it will get easier every time!

Quinn is now 8 months old and is into EVERYTHING! She crawls everywhere and is the most curious baby in the world. She will sit there and study a toy and everything about the way it works before she will play with it. I guess she's a baby genius :) She is also into pattycake and anytime she hears the words "patty-cake" she immediately begins clapping! Also, anytime you say her name she will turn, smile, and begin clapping! She is at a really fun stage right now. She is also starting to pull herself up on furniture. At her last doctors appt, she was 8th percentile for weight and 60% for height so she's a skinny long thing! Dustin's mom's side has amazing genes(all tall and skinny, no matter what food they eat), so we think Quinn got the good genes.

Well, I think that pretty much sums up things for us!

Life!

I figure it is about time for an update!! So be prepared for a very long post!! Let's start with updates on Dustin and I before we get to the best part of the post, our new little girl Quinn. So Dustin has decided to go to Kansas City Missouri for Medical school so we will be leaving July 29th! It is a short 7 weeks away and I am so sad to be leaving family especially after having this little girl! However, I am also very excited to go on a new adventure with Dustin and I know it will make our relationship even stronger! For now, Dustin is working nights on the total joint unit at the hospital as a charge nurse and is enjoying it. I am definitely excited to not be alone at night anymore when we move!!!

As for me, I graduated May 4th from the Nursing program. So I am KINDOF officially an RN. I am currently in the process of applying for my license in Missouri and have to still take the boards. The current plan is to work a couple days or nights a week once we move there, as long as Dustin can be home and watch our girl because I refuse to leave her with a babysitter! I would much rather be home with her and have no money!

And now for the new addition in our lives, Quinn Kourtney Tew!! We just love this little one. It is amazing how much love you realize you are capable of once you have a child. So before I get too mushy I will give a quick summary of her birth! Her original due date was May 3rd. I went into the doctors office May 1st frustrated I hadn't had her yet! My doctor agreed to induce me the next day, May 2nd. I was so excited! I mean, anticipating someones arrival for 9 months can lead one to be VERY impatient!! Dustin worked that night so I decided to go stay at my parents...to keep this G-rated I won't go into too much detail but I had some signs that baby would be coming soon that night and then the next morning began having some mild contractions that were 10-15 minutes apart. By 2:00 that afternoon they were becoming pretty painful. I was scheduled to be induced at 5:00 so we decided to just head up there. Well everyone and their dog decided to have a baby that day so I got checked in triage and was only dilated to a 1. The nurse said they didn't have any open rooms and since I wasn't progressing too quickly to come back in a couple of hours. I was bummed but I went home and took a 2 hour nap. I woke up to a phone call from the hospital saying they had a room open for me, so UP we went! I was now dilated to a 3, so the nurse decided to call anesthesia so that by the time they got there I would be a 4 and could get the goods. By the way, I may be very narrow minded but why would anyone want to do natural birth!? The epidural was probably the greatest thing ever and I think the absence of pain let me enjoy the experience even more, BUT what do I know. Anyways, at about 10:30 the nurse thought the baby would be coming any minute because I had started progressing fast, so I call my sister who is a photographer because I wanted these moments captured! She arrives and my contractions start slowing down. SOOOO My nurse ends up starting some Pitocin (since I had orders for it anyways since I was originally going to be induced). This sped up the contractions and the doc was on his way! I pushed for about 15-20 minutes and our precious little one entered the world right on her due date! 6 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long! She was perfect!!! It was so weird to watch them weighing a baby across the room and thinking that it was MY child! I literally went into shock and it didnt set in for a couple of days that she was ours and we get to keep her forever!! I was pretty emotional once she was born (no surprise). She immediately had Dustin wrapped around her little finger. She had lots of visitors over the next 24 hours and then we were able to go home!

The next couple of weeks were a complete blur! I really can hardly remember anything specific other than the feelings felt in our home! Dustin was completely in love and wanted to hold her all of the time. He would just sit there and stare at her and give her kisses. It is such a great feeling to watch this. Dustin has always been a softy, but Quinn melted his heart even more! I am completely in love and love spending every day with her. I'm not going to lie....some days are REALLY hard and emotional! Your life completely changes and nothing can prepare you for it, but I wouldnt change it for the world. As I am writing this she is sleeping right next to me and I am just overcome with love!! Well I think that pretty much sums up everything I HAVEN'T blogged about. Maybe once we move I will get better at this. Anyways, here are some pictures captured from Quinns birth!

pictureless

Well since I haven't blogged since November and I am now 32 weeks pregnant I figured I should post SOMETHING!! Life for us has been crazy but great. We have been enjoying this warm winter! Dustin has been skiing a lot, I skied up until 28 weeks and then had to pull the cord! As I mentioned previously, Dustin is applying for med schools right now and has been accepted to 3 schools....and as of right NOW we will be moving to Kansas City Missouri!! We are REALLLLYYYY hoping to get into University of Utah but won't know until the end of the month! It is a really hard school to get into but Kansas City is so FAR away so I am keeping my fingers crossed!! I really am happy that we at least have somewhere to go, but now that we are going somewhere I am allowed to be picky right?? I don't know what else I have blogged on Dustin so I will just give a full update....he is currently working nights up at PMC as a Nurse and has even been working as a charge nurse occasionally! He is also taking some classes to keep himself in school before med school starts up. Other than that our little girl already has him wrapped around her finger! It is so cute to hear him talk about his excitement and to hear him talk to her. I can't wait to see him holding her! I am finishing up nursing school and can't believe it is coming to an end! There is only 8 weeks left of classes (yes I have it memorized because I am due in 8 weeks, AKA due during finals week!). I am so excited to be done with school and even more excited to meet our little girl!! I am so glad I have had school to keep me busy and make this pregnancy fly by! I was sick for about 16-18 weeks and then got strep throat.....then started going through the getting fat stage....so until about 3 weeks ago I truly hated pregnancy! However, I am finally loving it and can't wait for her to be here! We had a scare the other day after my doctors appt because he said he was a little worried our baby wasn't growing because I was measuring at 31 weeks what I should be at 26 weeks. HOWEVER, she is growing perfectly healthy and must just love to burrow farther back making it look like she is smaller! In fact, I would not be surprised if this was the case since I am convinced my back is being kicked 24/7! It has been so fun with her getting bigger and being able to feel her move around all the time. So many of our friends and family members are expecting right now so I am excited our little girl will have so many friends and cousins her age! Anyways, that about sums up our lives right now!

Dustins graduation

I already mentioned back in May Dustins graduation! However, we got some pics after so I thought I'd share! So proud of him!!! :)

They called this the pinning ceremony....basically it was a thing that hung on his neck with a pin on it.
Proud mother and wife!

Chi-town

WELL.....last I updated was May.... In JUNE we went to Chicago to visit my brother and sister! My brother and his wife were moving home so they flew us out there to drive their car home! We love to get out of Pocatello as much as we can- It was so much fun!! We ate lots of yummy food and did a lot of sightseeing and laughing! Here are some pics from the vacation!

Science Rules!!

At the top of Willis (aka SEARS) Tower. They built an area made of all windows so you can stand out on this ledge and look down to the streets. Scary!!!

Catching up

I figure since nothing very exciting goes on in our lives, if I update every few months or so there will actually be something to update on!!
Dustin graduated in May!! Wahoooo! He got his bachelors in Nursing so he is now
Dustin Tew, RN

However, that will only last for about a year because he is now applying to Med school! He takes the M-Cat tomorrow! So we are excited to get that over with, not sure who is MORE excited! Dustin has basically studied every day since January for it, and I am commanded to not speak to him anytime while he is studying (getting kind of old ). haha I will literally get a phone call while on my way home telling me when I come in the house to not talk to him so he doesn't get distracted!! It is pretty funny and sometimes frustrating- BUT I always remind myself how grateful I am for a husband who is a hardworker and knows what he wants rather than the alternative. He is the best!
I have one more year of Nursing school and CANNOT wait to be done. ONE MORE YEAR.
More recently, I just got back from a girls weekend in Phoenix w/ my sister in law. We stayed at a friends who is living there. HEAVEN. It was high 90's the entire time we were there! We slept in every day...would go lay by the pool all day....and do whatever we felt that night. It was the most relaxing vacation ever. Then we came home to weather in the 40's= horrible.

First night, we decided to hit up some clubs!! This is us dancing on the cubicle in the center of the dance floor...notice we are the only ones in there dancing! haha

While I was on my trip, Dustin got to go dirtbiking, which he has not done for the last 4-5 years! His family loves dirtbiking & thats what he has grown up loving so I was so happy that he was able to go!

Last item of business....we are headed off to Chicago in a few weeks!!!! My brother & sister along with their families both live there! My brother is finally moving back home and they need someone to drive their car home for them. So we are flying out there so spend a few days with everyone & then driving their car home & we CAN'T wait!!

Other than that- we are working all summer long and boating whenever possible!
